The landing gear on an airplane serves two purposes. It allows the plane to take off and land
safely, and it allows the pilot to maneuver the plane on the ground. In this course, you will learn
the parts of an airplane’s landing gear and how the landing gear operates to land an airplane
and to maneuver the airplane on the ground.
By the end of this course, you will be able to

• Understand how landing gear absorbs the shock of landing an airplane
